Jody's inimitable description of our August 2017 inaugural meeting on Fred Haynes's mobile dock:
“Hi VILS organizers,
The August meeting was great. It started out pretty dodgy when we spotted Fred in the distance on a massive dock
in the middle of the lake paddling. Things went downhill a bit from there as the wind picked up just as he got
close to shore and blew him adrift into the opposite bank. A couple of half-naked Czechoslovakians turned-up in
their hot-rod dock and pushed our meeting venue into the dock at the park. Sam compensated the Czechs with a bag
of beers to their absolute delight. Maybe it was all relative from watching our meeting appear to be on the way
to hitting rock bottom as the dock drifted away but I think it actually turned out to be one of our best meetings.”
